The Spotted Cat and the Woods

A little luck is what we need to have special sightings, and I had one as I took a group of guests on one of the morning safaris recently. The mornings are misty these days, and when the sun hits the jungle, it runs its rays through it. Read more

The Tiger Who Stole My Safari…

It was a slightly humid afternoon, and I was with 16 guests during the vehicle safari. It was just a few minutes past our entry into the national park. As the vehicle was cruising gently in the track, my driver Lokesh exuberantly called out, “Tiger Tiger”, and we looked in the direction his index finger pointed. Read more

Tracking a Leopard…

Tracking a Leopard…

While commencing the safari on a winter afternoon, I could tell that it was a lot hotter compared to the past couple of days. Hence my plan was to check all the waterholes in the forest. The Tryst with the Tiger

Most of the people on a wildlife safari expect to see a Tiger in each safari. On that day, the same thing happened to me as well when I asked my guests what they were hoping to see. When we entered the forest, we hardly found any animals. Read more

The Giants Are Back!

Winter Delights

Usually, the summer months are considered to be the best months for sighting big cats, including Leopards. Their search for water, coupled with sparser vegetation makes it easier to spot these cats. So sighting a Leopard during the winter months is very exciting. Read more

A Hit and Miss Scenario?

A Hit and Miss Scenario?

We were driving around in a minibus during an afternoon safari when we came to a halt at a crossroad. There were plenty of deer grazing and lot of monkeys atop the trees around us. From the corner of my eye, I saw a large animal suddenly jump out of the bushes about 40 feet away from us, with cat-like reflexes. Read more

Wild Life Fascination!

It was a foggy morning and the whole lake was covered with mist. Luckily, just before we entered the forest, we got some sunlight. There were 16 guests with me on a minibus. In the first half of the safari we saw some Spotted Deer, Wild Pigs and a few birds. Read more

Elephants Day Out!

During one of my recent drives into the Nagarhole National Park, I was lucky enough to spot a herd of 7 elephants close to a man made waterhole. Two of them were cooling themselves, one of which was a male calf probably around 2 to 3 years old. Read more
